Lakhs of People

Every cube is one lakh (1,00,000) people. Bengaluru went from 4 lakh in 1941 to 84 lakh in 2011, about twenty-one times over. Cubes keep the colour of the decade that added them, so each tower shows its own history.

The 2001–2011 layer includes people counted inside the city after the 2007 merger that formed the BBMP, which absorbed 7 city councils, 1 town council and 110 villages.
